Posted on: 17 Jun 2020

Don’t forget - it’s Father’s Day this weekend, on Sunday 21 June.

If you haven’t got your hands on a gift just yet, then don’t panic: Bristol’s plethora of creators, makers and independent businesses can help.

From locally-brewed beer to a balloon ride across the city, here’s a handful of last-minute gift ideas you can grab for your loved ones this Father’s Day.

Get a Father's Day card from Card Shack

If you're going to grab your loved ones a Father's Day card, it'd make sense to get one from the Best Greeting Card Shop in Bristol, right?

Last month, The Arcade's independent greeting card shop, Card Shack, won the 'Best Greeting Card Shop in Bristol' title in the Acquisition International's Business Excellence Awards.

Right now, Card Shack is stocking loads of Father's Day cards and gifts in preparation for Sunday, some of which have been created by local artists.

They've also got a nifty online shop, with same-day dispatch Monday to Saturday, and a Click & Collect service.

Order beer from Bristol breweries

Whilst pubs are shut for now, why not treat them to the next best thing: local beer delivered to your door.

Take a look at our extensive list of Bristol breweries offering a local delivery service here.

To give you a taste of what's on offer this Father's Day, BS2 brewery, Tapestry, is delivering 5L Mini Casks of their renowned Swingball IPA and Sunday Best bitter ahead of the weekend.

The Bristol Beer Factory taproom in Southville is open for order collections until 18:00 on Saturday, and Wiper & True will be donating £1 from every order to Stand Against Racism & Inequality.

But be quick! Today (Wednesday 17 June) is your last day to order in time for Father's Day from Bristol breweries. Step on it.

Or grab some coffee from local coffee shops and roasters

If they're not into beer, they might be into coffee.

A few weeks ago, we rounded up several Bristol coffee shops and roasters offering a local delivery service. Check it out right here

In the list, you'll find discounts, a range of coffee subscription services, and a micro-batch speciality coffee roaster who offers local delivery by bike named Lost Horizon Coffee (pictured below).

Order some eco-friendly wine from Porto

Now this is a pretty cool gift idea if the person you have in mind loves wine and cares about the planet.

Recently, we chatted with Anton Mann of Xisto Wines and Port O'Bristol.

Port O' Bristol is a pioneering trade hub, working to import wine from Portugal using traditional cargo ships as an eco-friendly alternative. Then, Anton and his wife Lela sell the imported wine via their sister company, Xisto Wines.

At the moment, Xisto Wines is operating a 'Wine Round', in which the team will deliver their eco-friendly, Portuguese wine to your door with reclaimed bottles and wine bags. Check out Xisto's online store here

Bonus gift idea for the eco-friendly: Illustrate, a sustainable fashion and stationery brand with Bristol stores inside The Arcade and on Park Street, has got an online store.

At the moment, Illustrate is offering free delivery on all orders over £10 with the code FREEPOSTUK.

Lots of sporting activities are off-limits for now. But in better news, golf courses have reopened with social distancing measures.

Woodlands Golf, located in BS32, is now taking bookings by phone and email.

The golf course at Ashton Court has also reopened, with social distancing guidance available on the Bristol Council website.

The Bristol Golf Club, located in BS10, has released golfing guidelines too, and asks for golfers to book online before they visit.
