A children’s classic that took the Fringe by storm is coming to Bristol

The Gruffalo, The Witch, and The Warthog, a show combining Julia Donaldson’s most classic children’s tales, is coming to the Redgrave Theatre next month.

Following a sell out season at the Edinburgh Fringe, Julia Donaldson, Britain's most popular children's author, is presenting a show full of magic, music and excitement. The Gruffalo, The Witch and The Warthog is coming to the Redgrave Theatre from Friday 2 August to Sunday 4 August. There are morning shows at 10:30, and afternoon shows at 14:30.

In The Gruffalo, The Witch and The Warthog, Donaldson works together with four actors (including her guitar-playing husband Malcolm) to bring six of her stories to life with songs, puppetry, and – of course – an appearance by the Gruffalo himself.

Julia Donaldson is a bestselling English children’s author – best known for her book The Gruffalo, which has sold over 13.5 million copies, won multiple awards, been adapted into film & theatre, and even had commemorative coins themed after it. It’s worth noting, however, that many of her other books have achieved a similar level of success, such as Room on the Broom, Stick Man, Zog and the sequel to The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child.

This surprising show is not only penned by Julia Donaldson, but stars her alongside friends and her husband, telling six of her most beloved stories – Room on the Broom, The Magic Paintbrush, The Ugly Five, Superworm, The Gruffalo (of course), and The Cook and the King (release just a few years ago). It quickly sold out at the Fringe – and will no doubt be just as popular in Bristol.

The Gruffalo, The Witch and The Warthog is coming to the Redgrave Theatre early next month – from Friday 2 August to Sunday 4 August, with morning shows and afternoon shows. You can get your tickets now on the Redgrave website.
