The farm will open its gates from 10am to 4pm for a day of music, food and family activities, inviting the Bristol community to celebrate five decades of one of the UK’s pioneering city farms.

Visitors can enjoy live music from local musicians, folk craft workshops, stalls, games and activities for children, as well as a BBQ serving the farm’s own produce and farm-reared meat. Craft beer from the farm’s taproom and summer drinks including Pimm’s will also be available.

Tickets are offered on a sliding scale to keep the event accessible, with a limited number of free tickets available for families who would otherwise be unable to attend.

Founded in the 1970s, Windmill Hill City Farm was one of the first community farms in the UK and remains one of the busiest. Alongside its green space and animals, the farm runs social care programmes, outdoor learning and community initiatives, welcoming thousands of visitors each year.

The anniversary year will also launch the farm’s Golden Harvest Appeal, aiming to raise £50,000 to help to keep it in good shape and free and accessible for everyone.
