The National Theatre have today announced the full cast for this internationally acclaimed production of Michael Morpurgo’s much-loved novel.

 

War Horse runs at The Bristol Hippodrome between Tuesday 3 and Saturday 21 June 2025.

The full cast of 35 includes Rianna Ash (Joey/Topthorn head), Alexander Ballinger (Friedrich/Allan), Diany Bandza (Emilie/Baby Joey), Eloise Beaumont-Wood (Baby Joey), Ike Bennett (David Taylor/Thomas Bone), Haydn Burke (Billy Narracott/Heine/Klebb), Sophie Cartman (Matron Callaghan), Jo Castleton (Rose Narracott) and many more talented performers.

 

War Horse is adapted by Nick Stafford and originally directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris. Since its premiere in 2007, it has become the most successful play in the National Theatre’s history, winning more than 25 major awards and being watched by over 8.3 million people worldwide.

 

The play tells the remarkable tale of a young boy named Albert and his horse Joey, set against the backdrop of the First World War. This moving, imaginative drama is full of inventiveness, filled with stirring music and groundbreaking puppetry that brings breathing, galloping, and charging horses to thrilling life on stage and inspired a generation.

 

In addition to Bristol, War Horse will appear at theatres in Wimbledon, Salford, Southampton, Canterbury, Sunderland, Plymouth, Oxford, Woking, Dublin, Belfast, Stoke, Wolverhampton, Glasgow, Liverpool, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Leeds, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Norwich.
