Formed in Liverpool in the late 1970s, the original Echo & The Bunnymen lineup consisted of larger-than-life vocalist Ian McCulloch, masterful guitarist Will Sergeant (both of whom remain in the group) and bassist Les Pattinson with Pete de Freitas joining the band soon after.

They began life as angular post-punks with their debut album Crocodiles in 1980, but their second record 1984’s Ocean Rain was a beautiful, cinematic piece and included perhaps the band’s most enduring numbers in, ‘The Killing Moon’.

1987’s self-titled record was far more stripped back than previous efforts and featured smash hit ‘Lips Like Sugar’. The band have since experienced great tragedy with the death of de Freitas, however, McCulloch and Sergeant maintain a rare musical telepathy, producing various gems including 2018’s The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon.

Echo & The Bunnymen’s ‘Songs To Learn & Sing’ tour of the UK will see them drop by venues in Norwich, Brighton, Bournemouth, Bristol, London, Cardiff, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle and Liverpool across March 2024. Visit the band’s website for more information.
