Johnny Marr cut his teeth as the guitarist and co-songwriter of The Smiths. Alongside angsty crooner Morrissey, Marr’s powerful, treble driven guitar parts propelled the group to the apex of indie pop and, to this day, the Manchester outfit are recognised as British guitar music royalty.

After the band split in 1987, Marr utilised his talents to play regularly with some of the top artists of the day, appearing with The Pretenders, Talking Heads, The The and more. After taking on various projects throughout the 90s and early 2000s, Marr found a more permanent joint home with Modest Mouse and The Cribs in the latter part of the decade.

Marr announced himself as a talented solo artist in 2013 with the release of The Messenger, a nostalgic record that recalled much of his work in The Smiths. Since then, the Mancunian has been an ever-present singer-songwriter, releasing a slew of albums and touring regularly.

In addition to Bristol, Johnny Marr’s ‘The Spirit Power Tour’ will see the rocker drop by venues in Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Wolverhampton, Cardiff, London, Brighton and Nottingham. Support for this tour comes from Supergrass frontman and celebrated solo artist, Gaz Coombes.
