The mercurial Ben Howard will be playing in Bristol to celebrate ten years of his critically acclaimed UK number-one album, I Forget Where We Were.

 

Ben Howard will play Bristol Beacon’s Beacon Hall on Monday 28 October 2024.

 

‘A Retrospective Tour: Celebrating 10 Years Of I Forget Where We Were’  will follow the eagerly anticipated release of Howard’s latest album, 2023’s Is It: a lush, sonically splintered work which sees him working through moments of seismic shift. The London-born, South Devon-raised Ben Howard is a mercurial presence in the British music scene, having first emerged with his 2011 LP, Every Kingdom. Drawing inspiration from the British folk scene of the 1970s, the Island Records release earned Howard a Mercury nomination and two BRIT Awards, eventually going platinum.

 

His hugely anticipated sophomore album, I Forget Where We Were, came three years later to widespread critical acclaim and debuted at Number One in the UK charts. Howard has since embarked on various collaborative projects and released a series of acclaimed, more experimental albums.

 

Speaking about 2023’s Is It, Howard says: “We went in to put down ten songs in ten days, then spent the rest of the year tinkering with them. We worked through the heatwave, the air conditioning broke… I was so tired in the afternoons that I slept a lot. We just played solidly and slept, there was no time for retrospection.”

 

‘A Retrospective Tour: Celebrating 10 Years Of I Forget Where We Were’ will be the first time Howard has revisited an album retrospectively and he will perform it in its entirety. The album signalling the stark arrival of a stormier side, moving away from the artist’s previous acoustic purity and winning critical acclaim in the process.

 

In addition to Bristol, Ben Howard’s 2024 tour will see him play in UK and Irish venues in Edinburgh, Leeds, Newcastle, Brighton, Bournemouth, Swansea, Manchester, London, Dublin, Bristol, Wolverhampton and Plymouth. Visit the artist’s website for more information.
