The ‘Don’t Make Me Over’ tour will see musical legend Dionne Warwick guide audiences through her remarkable life story from humble begins as a New Jersey gospel singer to worldwide stardom.

 

Dionne Warwick will appear at Bristol Beacon’s Beacon Hall on Thursday 16 May 2024.

 

Joined by her band, this wonderful evening will feature a number of Warwick’s hits including ‘I Say A Little Prayer’, ‘Do You Know The Way To San Jose’, and ‘Walk On By’. The iconic singer will also be joined on stage by interview Dave Wooley as she shares highlights from her award-winning documentary, Don’t Make Me Over.

Born in East Orange, New Jersey, Dionne Warwick was raised my a deeply musical family heavily involved in gospel and Dionne began singing in church and playing piano at a young age. She began a group, the Gospelaires, with her sister and enjoyed relative success, which is how she met legendary composer and producer Burt Bacharach.

 

She went on to form an acclaimed musical partnership with Bacharach and the pair collaborated on various hit singles including ‘Walk On By’ in 1962, ‘I Say a Little Prayer’ in 1967 and ‘(Theme from) Valley of the Dolls’ in 1968. She earned her first Grammy the next year and never looked back, becoming a legend of popular music.

 

Throughout her long career, Warwick has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, been inducted into the Hollywood Hall of Fame, and the Grammy Hall of Fame, she is also one of the most charted vocalists ever – 56 of her singles have made the Billboard Hot 100 between 1962 and 1998.

 

In addition to Bristol Beacon, Dione Warwick’s ‘Don’t Make Me Over’ UK tour will see her drop by Gateshead’s The Glasshouse, Edinburgh’s Usher Hall, Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall, Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, Salford’s The Lowry, London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane and Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion throughout May 2024.
