Musical theatre legend Lea Salonga is coming to Bristol!

Musical theatre royalty and official Disney legend Salonga is taking to the road in the UK next year with a new tour ‘Stage, Screen & Everything In Between’ and it’s coming to Bristol.

 

Lea Salonga will appear at Bristol Beacon’s Beacon Hall on Wednesday 26 June 2024.

 

After launching her tour at Theatre Royal Drury Lane – the iconic venue where she made her name as the original Miss Saigon 35 years ago – Salonga will wow theatre fans throughout the country with classics from her best-known roles in Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, Aladdin and Mulan; new favourites from acclaimed West End hit Old Friends and more.

Lea Salonga was only 17 and living in her native Philippines when she was cast as Kim, the lead in Miss Saigon. She originated the role in London and New York, winning Olivier and Tony Awards, and returned to the West End in 2014 for the 25th anniversary.

 

She is also renowned for portraying both Eponine and Fantine in Les Misérables on Broadway – making her the first actress of Asian descent to play the role. Her solo tours in 2019 and 2022 were both sell-out successes, breaking records across North America and the US.

 

Earlier this year, Salonga returned to the West End to head the cast of Old Friends alongside Broadway icon Bernadette Peters, paying tribute to the late great composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. She also co-produced and appeared in Here Lies Love, Fatboy Slim and David Byrne’s biographical musical based on the life of Imelda Marcos.

 

Away from the stage, she has lent her soaring singing voice to two Disney Princesses (the first person to have ever done this) – Aladdin’s Princess Jasmine and Fa Mullan in Mulan and Mulan II. She has also starred in HBO’s 2022 series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, judged on the Philippines’ version of The Voice and sold millions of albums worldwide.

 

Speaking about her upcoming UK tour, Salonga has said: “I have so much love for UK audiences, so I am thrilled to be able to share some of the many wonderful songs I have sung throughout my career with fans once more – as well as some treats from ‘in-between’ too.

 

“With my last two tours here, we have had so much fun and I have made so many memories so I look forward to doing this once again and to travelling to such beautiful venues across the country.”
