Formed in New York in 1993 by Huey Morgan, Brian “Fast” Leiser and Steve Borgovini, Fun Lovin’ Criminals quickly found a dedicated following thanks to their groove-ready blend of alt-rock, blues, jazz, Latin soul and hip hop, perhaps best demonstrated in their 1996 hit ‘Scooby Snacks’ – which sampled a selection of Quentin Tarantino films.
The single was a cut from their platinum-selling debut album, Come Find Yourself - released the same year on EMI. ‘Scooby Snacks’ broke the Top 40 in the US, UK, Australia and more and the band’s success led to a high-profile support slot with megastars U2.
Fun Lovin’ Criminals’ second album, 100% Colombian, came in 1998 and featured smash hits ‘Love Unlimited’ and ‘Korean Bodega’. Mimosa was released a year later and, in the proceeding years, co-founders Borgovini and Morgan both left the band. The current lineup features Leiser along with new recruits Frank Benbini and Naim Cortazzi.
The UK and Ireland leg of Fun Lovin’ Criminals’ ‘100% Colombian 25th Anniversary World Tour’ will see them play venues in Brighton, Cambridge, London, Hull, Cardiff, Swansea, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Newcastle (sold out), Bristol, Sheffield, Liverpool, Nottingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Limerick and Dublin.
