When the curtain rises at The Bristol Hippodrome, we will see dancers in shadow push against a forbidding wall. From then on, Akram Khan’s Giselle stuns with a series of powerful images that will be etched into your mind as the company conjure up a condemned factory and the vengeful ghosts that lurk in its shadows.

Featuring an ominous score from Vincenzo Lamagna – adapted from the original piece by Adolphe Adam and performed live by the English National Ballet Philharmonioc – intensifies the emotional impact of this epic story.

Described by The Mail on Sunday as “a masterpiece of 21st century dance”, you do not want to miss the greatest of romantic ballets and its famous tale of love, betrayal and redemption, boldly reimagined at The Bristol Old Vic.

One of the UK’s five major ballet companies, the English National Ballet is a classical ballet company founded in 1950 by the legendary dancers Alicia Markova and Anton Dolin. The company aims to present world class ballet to the widest possible audience with a blend of groundbreaking new works in addition to classic pieces.
