Tickets on sale Friday for legendary Madchester band’s Bristol show

‘24 Hour Party People’ stars Happy Mondays will be dropping by Bristol in March as part of their recently announced run of shows for 2024, billed as ‘The Been There Done That Tour’.

 

Happy Mondays will play O2 Academy Bristol on Sunday 24 March 2024.

 

For this extra special run of shows, the much-loved sextet will be joined by fellow 90s UK music icons and long-time friends, Inspiral Carpets as well as Stereo MC’s. Tickets for the tour go live at 10 AM this Friday, 6 October 2023.

The recently announced ‘The Been There Done That Tour’ is Happy Mondays’ first headline tour in five years and is sure to prove incredibly popular with a stunning lineup of legendary frontman Shaun Rider, beloved dancer/percussionist Bez, vocalist Rowetta, guitarist Mark Day, drummer Gary Whelan and multi-instrumentalist Dan Broad.

 

The band were a prototype Madchester band, graduating from Tony Wilson’s Factory Records in the late 1980s, blending their love of funk, rock, psychedelia and house with the sound of the UK’s fledgling rave scene.

 

Happy Mondays soon became icons of Britain’s cultural boom, the soundtrack for a generation after they crossed into the mainstream with their third record, 1990’s platinum-selling Pills ‘n’ Thrills And Bellyaches securing a lasting legacy that was recognised in 2016 when the band won the Ivor Novello Inspiration Award.

 

At the group’s Bristol show in 2024, fans can expect classics including ‘24 Hour Party People’, ‘Step On’, ‘Hallelujah’, ‘Loose Fit’, ‘Judge Fudge’, ‘W.F.L.’ and ‘Kinky Afro’. Speaking about the tour, cult hero Bez has said: “Can’t wait to get out on tour with Happy Mondays. Shake your maracas in the air like you just don’t care!”

 

In addition to Bristol, Happy Mondays have announced dates in Glasgow, Nottingham, Newcastle, Northampton, Leeds, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Manchester, London, Southend, Cambridge, Sheffield, Liverpool, and Brighton. Visit the band’s website for more information.
