Indie rock stalwarts The Vaccines are coming to Bristol in 2024

Posted on: 22 Sep 2023

Returning with their eagerly anticipated sixth album, Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations, The Vaccines are heading out on a February 2024 tour of the UK.

The Vaccines will play O2 Academy Bristol on Thursday 15 February 2024.

Once poster boys of the UK’s indie scene and now firm festival favourites thanks to their infectious melodies and euphoric hooks, the London based band’s most recent record may be their first since the departure of guitarist Freddie Cowan, but – like every Vaccines album – it is full to the brim with single ready hits.

Tickets for this show go on general sale at 9 AM on Thursday 28 September 2023.

Forming in 2010, The Vaccines’ original lineup consisted of frontman and guitarist Justin Young, Arni Arnason on bass, Freddie Cowan on guitar and Pete Robertson on drums. They immediately became a fixture of London’s indie rock scene, drawing comparisons to the likes of The Strokes, Jesus and Mary Chain and The Ramones.

The band’s hit debut single, ‘Post Break-Up Sex’, appeared in February 2011 with their first album, What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?, released later that year. The record proved a platinum success, propelling The Vaccines to one of the biggest names in UK rock.

Sophomore album, 2012’s Come of Age, became The Vaccines’ first UK number one and Combat Sports and Back in Love City followed in in 2018 and 2021 respectively. The band’s brand-new album, Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations, will be released on January 12 2024.

In addition to Bristol, The Vaccine’s Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations will see them drop by venues in Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham, London, Margate, Folkestone, Southampton, Oxford, Brighton, Sheffield, Leeds, Glasgow and Newcastle.
