Craig Charles + live support will take over Propyard’s Courtyard between 2 PM and 11 PM on Saturday 29 July 2023.

Now best known as BBC 6 Music’s prime-time DJ, Craig Charles carved a name for himself with high-profile acting roles in TV shows such as Red Dwarf and Coronation Street as well as presenting the likes of Robot Ward and Takeshi’s Castle.

 

Charles took an interesting route into the world of show business, cutting his teeth as a politically charged spoken word performance poet and stand-up comedian with the Red Wedge comedy tour in 1986. 

 

The cheeky Liverpudlian would soon burst onto UK TV screens as the lager-loving Dave in the enduring Red Dwarf series. On top of this iconic role, for 10 years Charles played taxi driver Lloyd Mullaney in Coronation Street and has presented a number of much-loved shows from cult hit Robot Wars to The Gadget Show.

 

His Funk and Soul show on BBC 6 Music is a real favourite with music fans and has become a fully-fledged regular club night. Thanks to the show’s success, Charles now has the headline prime-time spot on the radio station.

 

As a result of this, the 58-year-old has garnered a reputation as an experienced disc jockey with an unrivalled knowledge of funk, soul and disco. An enthusiastic music lover, he is most at home when commanding a massive crowd – making him the perfect choice for a summer party in Propyard’s suntrap Courtyard.
