The Darkness announce massive Bristol show later this year

The legendary hard rock band will drop by Bristol Beacon in December as part of an anniversary tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Permission To Land.

 

The Darkness will play Bristol Beacon’s Beacon Hall on Thursday 14 December 2023.

 

Known for their over-the-top campness and bombastic guitars, The Darkness have been a household name throughout the UK and beyond ever since their critically acclaimed first record Permission to Land smashed the awards season out of the park back in 2003. Now, after years out of the spotlight, they’re back!

Hailing from Lowestoft, East Suffolk, the world began its love affair with The Darkness back in 2003 when their debut album, Permission to Land, made the four-piece overnight superstars.

 

The record spawned a slew of hit singles including ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’, ‘Growing On Me’, ‘Get Your Hands Off My Woman’ and ‘Love Is Only A Feeling’ with music fans won over by the band’s refreshing throwback, glam metal style. 

 

Permission to Land also won a series of prestigious awards, totting up three BRIT Awards, two Kerrang Awards, and an Ivor Novello amongst many others. The album propelled the group into icon territory; however, the pressures of fame took their toll and, in 2006, lead singer Justin Hawkins left the band to check into rehab and The Darkness were no more.

 

Yet, like the proverbial phoenix rising from the ashes, the band reformed in 2011 for a vastly successful tour of Europe and South America with pop superstar Lady Gaga. Now, twenty years after their acclaimed debut, you’ll have the chance to witness the Darkness’ cheeky, spandex-clad anthems first-hand!
