Bristol punks Heavy Lungs announce long awaited debut album

Posted on: 16 Jun 2023

The announcement of All Gas No Brakes, which is set for release in September, comes alongside a brand-new video for the record’s title track, their latest single.

Released via Alcopop! Records, All Gas No Brakes was recorded at Holy Mountain Studios with additional production at Humm Studios by producer Chris Fullard and assistant engineer Stanley Gravett, the album was mastered by Adam Gonsalves, Telegraph Audio.

All Gas No Brakes will be released on Friday 29 September 2023. The video for the title track single can be found below…

Speaking about the release of their eagerly anticipated debut album, the band have said: “Well, well, well… they said it couldn’t be done, but look what just kicked you in the ass. Our debut album is coming out. It’s a dancer and it’s a prancer, and hopefully, it’s a life enhancer.

“We recorded it way back in 2021 with head wizard, Wiz, and his jester Stan for some extra magic and spice, and it’s been a long old wait, but only another three months and it’s yours!”

The band have also released a taste of things to come in the shape of new single ‘All Gas No Breaks’ (following last month’s ‘Dancing Man’), described by Heavy Lungs frontman Danny Nedelko thus: “This high-octane, dance floor firecracker is all about giving it absolute beans. It’s about knowing you are the big cheese. You’re the main course.”

Partnering the single is a fever dream of a music video, directed by Holding Hands With Horses. “It’s a 70s B-movie, Paul Thomas Anderson-inspired depiction of a roller disco gone full Twin Peaks,” say the band, “You are seriously in for a wild ride. 69% on Rotten Potatoes. The rewatchability of this one is off the scale.”

Heavy Lungs’ previous single, ‘Dancing Man’ was released last month to widespread acclaim, garnering support from the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, DIY Magazine, DORK, CLUNK Magazine and more.

To celebrate the new record, the four-piece have announced an October UK tour which will see them play venues in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, London and Brighton in addition to a high-profile show at Bristol’s The Fleece.

Heavy Lungs’ debut album All Gas No Brakes will be released on Friday 29 September 2023. Listen to their newly released title track HERE.
