New funding scheme announced to support independent electronic music

New funding scheme announced to support independent electronic music

Posted on: 15 Jun 2023

The Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) and The Music Lotto have joined forces to provide support for the independent electronic music industry.

Bristol is renowned the world over for its unique, forward-thinking electronic music scene. However, a concoction of COVID, the cost-of-living crisis and lack of funding has made it much harder to thrive in the industry and that’s where this exciting new partnership comes in.

This illustrious collaboration will see NTIA and The Music Lotto unite their objectives to break down music barriers, making the UK electronic music industry a more inclusive and accessible space for those entering the creative sector as well as providing routes to access venues to showcase their talents.

With NTIA’s mission to protect and rejuvenate the electronic music community and nightlife in general, The Music Lotto has set up a unique lottery that gives back to rising artists and creative businesses throughout the UK.

Launching last summer, The Music Lotto is a digital fundraising lottery where 50% of the sales from £1 tickets are split between the grants programme for talent, giving artists financial support to further their careers, with further donations going to a range of charities partners.

Over the next 6 months, the two organisations will be bringing together ambassadors and partners to provide access to and promote various support including The Music Lottos’ grants programme.

This will allow unsigned talent to apply for monetary support of up to £1,000 for anything including equipment, studio time, tech and performance space. Venues looking to provide a platform for up-and-coming artists may also apply for support.

Speaking about the news, NTIA CEO Michael Kill has said: “Over the course of the last four years, we have witnessed the struggles faced by emerging talent across the electronic music sector and the subsequent void in the talent pipeline.

“The nighttime culture economy has always been an advocate for new emerging talent and prides itself on giving grassroots artists a platform to access physical audiences and the ability to build their fanbase.

“The Music Lotto programme will go a long way to help fund new talent across the creative sectors, helping to rebuild local and national pipeline and generate more opportunities for aspiring artists across the UK.”

The Music Lotto will be announcing its first round of grant applications in the coming weeks. Play the Lotto HERE.
