One of Bristol’s most prominent venues, now known as Bristol Beacon, is opening its doors once again in November 2023 and they’ve got a pretty special weekend of events planned.

Bristol Beacon reopens with their ‘Trip the Light Fantastic’ event on Thursday 30 November 2023.

Since announcing their reopening back in February, Bristol Beacon have announced a spectacular programme of top musicians and comedians with the likes of Ricky Gervais, This Is The Kit, The Stranglers, Jools Holland, Romesh Ranganathan, Sarah Millican, Mo Gilligan, Professor Brian Cox and Stewart Lee all appearing.

Officially opening Bristol Beacon on Thursday 30 November is a recently commissioned project that brings together an all Bristol lineup of internationally renowned orchestral innovators Paraorchestra, electronic artist Surgeons Girl, Charles Hazelwood, and light art collective Limbic Cinema to create a spectacular collision of light and sound.

Through a lengthy creative process, the piece has come together in a unique collaborative ‘call and response’ process. Along with Surgeons Girl, Paraorchestra and responding composer Oliver Vilbrans to create evolving art that will transport the audience to another dimension

With help from audio-visual mainstays Limbic Cinema (who employ projection-mapping and innovative lighting techniques in their work), months of improvisation has resulted in a multi-sensory experience (dubbed ‘Trip The Light Fantastic’) that will light up the Beacon Hall for the first time when it reopens at the end of November.

This will be proceeded by a bumper ‘Housewarming Weekend’ on Saturday 2 December where Bristol Beacon will open their doors for a FREE all-day party across the entire venue, featuring communities, artists and talent from all over Bristol, brought together through an open call.

Sunday 3 December will see the opening celebrations rounded off with a show from Arthur Jeffes’ much loved and highly acclaimed collective, Penguin Café. Combining folk, classic and minimalism to create a distinctive brand of avant-pop, this looks set to be the perfect end to an action-packed opening weekend.
