With direction from one of Britain’s top TV judges, Craig Revel Horwood, this hit musical based on the iconic movie is set to arrive in Bristol in July.

 

Strictly Ballroom – The Musical runs at The Bristol Hippodrome from Monday 10 until Saturday 15 July 2023.

 

Revel Horwood’s take on Baz Luhrmann’s classic musical is all set to embark on a brand-new UK and Ireland tour that will star fellow Strictly Come Dancing favourite Kevin Clifton and Coronation Street and Dancing on Ice’s Faye Brookes.

Strictly Ballroom – The Musical follows the arrogant, rebellious young ballroom dancer Scott Hasting (Kevin Clifton) whose radical and audacious dancing style sees him fall out of favour with the Australian Dancing Federation. 

 

As a result of this, Scott is forced to dance with amateur Fran (Faye Brookes) and, together, they must find the courage to battle against tradition and discover that, to win, sometimes your steps don’t need to be ‘strictly ballroom’.

 

With a smash-hit score of classics such as ‘Love is in the Air’, ‘Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps’ and ‘Time After Time’, and new music by internationally renowned artists including Sia, David Foster and Eddie Perfect, this feel-good ballroom sensation is all set to be an unforgettable evening under the glitter ball that will make your heart glow and your toes tap.

The show is directed and co-choreographed by much-loved British icon Craig Revel Horwood. Speaking about the upcoming production of Luhrmann’s classic, the Strictly judge has said:

 

“Audiences are in for a night of laughter and comedy, with an insight into the ballroom world. It’s a glimpse backstage, which is very different to the smiles when dancers are performing. 

 

“Most people see this happy, smiley world of people dancing together but when they come offstage, they maybe have family issues to deal with or issues with each other. Strictly Ballroom lifts the curtain on all that whilst also being really funny and having such a strong central love story, plus there’s lots of glitz and glamour and beautiful costumes.”

In addition to its run at The Bristol Hippodrome, Strictly Ballroom – The Musical’s UK and Ireland tour will see the production appear at venues in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Derry, Dublin, Glasgow, Aylesbury, Nottingham, Salford, and Leeds. Find out more here.
