Transporting the audience into a world of true imagination, this magical stage features all the sing-along numbers from the iconic film starring Gene Wilder as well as a slew of originals. The weird and wonderful world of Wonka’s chocolate factory offers Charlie and other young ticket winners the chance to eat as much chocolate as possible, something that seems like the opportunity of a lifetime until the greed begins to set in and they discover not everything is quite as sweet as it seems.

As one of the best-loved children’s stories of all time, David Greig’s stage adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is sure to prove a hit with all the family when it comes to Bristol in September.

Leading the cast in the once-in-a-lifetime role of Willy Wonka will be West End favourite, Gareth Snook. With legendary numbers from the iconic 1970s film including ‘The Candy Man’ and ‘Pure Imagination’ in addition to a host of new songs, this wonderful musical is choc-full of fantastical treats to indulge the senses.

The musical features a score from multi-award-winning composer and lyricists Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Mary Poppins Returns). Speaking about the soundtrack, Snook has said:

“There’s so many nods to different musical genres from pop to heartfelt ballads and big dancing theatrical numbers. Wonka also has a brilliant patter song at the top of Act 2. It really has got something for everyone.”

When asked what he hopes audiences will take away from the production, the Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables star replied: “I hope audiences leave with a tear in the eye and a big smile on their face. I think the production is very moving, especially towards the end, and it is also great fun. I’d love to sit out and watch it myself!”

Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – The Musical will appear at The Bristol Hippodrome between Wednesday 20 September and Sunday 8 October 2023. Secure your tickets HERE.
