A staple of the R&B and Disco genres since the 1980s, South Carolina native Jocelyn Brown’s passionate, powerful voice has been at the forefront of an impressive roster of timeless classics as well as playing a background role in several others.

In addition to her success as a solo performer, Brown’s recognisable vocals featured on various prestigious records from studio-created groups such as Inner Life and Musique, often being credited as Jocelyn Shaw.

Perhaps Brown’s most noteworthy musical success came as a vocalist with Patrick Adams’ Musique, who achieved major club hits in 1978 with ‘Keep on Jumpin’ and ‘In the Bush’ – both of which reached number one on Billboard’s club chart.

Brown was also the key component of Adams’ Inner Life, whose debut single ‘I’m Caught Up (In a One Night Love Affair)’ proved a massive club and R&B success and a slew of other tracks became disco mainstays.

It was not until 1984, however, that Brown finally garnered widespread acclaim as a solo artist with ‘Somebody Else’s Guy’ and the singer hasn’t looked back since, firmly establishing herself as an industry favourite. Throughout the 80s, Brown also worked as a session musician with massive stars such as Chic, Lou Reed, Culture Club, Mick Jagger and Diana Ross.

Between 7 PM and 12 AM at Propyard on Thursday 20 April 2023, fans will be able to experience the magic of Jocelyn Brown as well as a slew of exciting support acts. Third release tickets are priced at £27.75 and can be purchased HERE.
