Emerging from the indie rock revival scene in New York during the early 2000s, Interpol immediately stood out. The three-piece, along with bands such as The Strokes and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, were at the forefront of one of indie’s golden ages and also helped kick-start the post-punk revival – the remnants of which can still be seen today.

Interpol’s debut album, 2002’s Turn On The Bright Lights, saw angular, screeching guitars meet with frontman Paul Banks’ dramatic, ominous baritone vocals. The seminal record’s genesis can be traced back to the likes of The Chameleons, The Smiths and – of course – Joy Division as well as the lasting reverberations of 9/11 on their hometown.

Ever since they bowed into the alternative music arena, the group have maintained an impressive consistency in their output with records such as Antics in 2004 and El Pintor in 2014 proving Interpol’s unique ability to adapt to the times.

In more recent year, the band have embraced their status as indie rock veterans and 2022’s The Other Side of Make-Believe effectively displayed a renewed optimism both lyrically and musically.

This coming summer sees Interpol finally showcasing the record to UK indie music fans with shows at Brighton Dome, Leeds O2 Academy, Edinburgh The Queen’s Hall, O2 Academy Bristol and O2 Academy Liverpool.

Interpol will appear at O2 Academy Bristol on Thursday 1 June 2023 with general tickets on sale this Friday 17 March at 9 AM. Tickets for the show can be found HERE.
