Known for their pioneering approach to electronic music, exploring the likes of ambient, punk and much more, Orbital have come a long way since they recorded their debut single ‘Chime’ in a cupboard at their family home in 1989 for less than a fiver.

Less than ten years later, Phil and Paul firmly established themselves as electronic giants; redefining what dance music could do and the space it could take within popular culture.

As a result of this, Orbital have influenced massive artists including Björk and Bicep and collaborated with minds as disverse as Madonna, Kraftwork, Aphex Twin, Doctor Who actor Matt Smith and legendary physicist Professor Stephen Hawking.

The duo’s iconic live performances arguably reinvented the idea of live dance shows, turning rock and punk fans alike towards the hypnotic beauty of electronic music. Indeed, Orbital’s monumental set at Glastonbury in 1994 is often mentioned amongst the greatest gigs of all time - see below.

In 2004 the brothers went on a brief hiatus, reuniting in 2008 to continue recording and performing all over the world, showcasing their acclaimed sound to a whole new generation

This story that has been immortalised in Orbital’s ’30 Something’ celebrations earlier this year with the campaign featuring reworkings of seminal tracks by massive contemporary DJs as well as the duo’s 2022 refresh of Satan.

On top of this, Orbital will release their tenth studio effort Optical Delusion in February. The album has been proceeded with singles ‘Dirty Rat’ (featuring Sleaford Mods) and ‘Ringa Ringa (The Old Pandemic Folk Song)’ (featuring Mediæval Bæbes).

The record’s release will be followed by a nine date UK tour that will see Orbital play O2 Academy Bristol on Friday 31 March 2023. Tickets for the gig go on sale this Friday, 16 December at 10 AM – buy yours HERE.
