Immerse yourself in a world of wintery magic with the Tobacco Factory's Christmas show

Posted on: 06 Dec 2022

Winter is well and truly upon us and Tobacco Factory Theatre are celebrating the festive season by introducing audiences to the icy world of The Snow Queen - their Christmas production for 2022.

After opening last week, The Snow Queen will be running at Tobacco Factory Theatre until Sunday 15 January.

This Christmas period Tobacco Factory, New International Encounter and Cambridge Junction have combined once again here to present a breathtaking theatrical retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale of magic, friendship and adventure for all the family.

Tickets for the festive show can be found here.

Theatre lovers of all ages will be heading out on the theatrical journey of a lifetime as young Gerda embarks on an extraordinary quest to the frozen north in a bid to save her best friend Kaj from the icy clutches of the Snow Queen.

In typical Tobacco Factory style, the production features plenty of rich acoustic music and a multi-talented cast. This unforgettable folk tale is sure to wow audiences with its heart, beauty and laugh-out-loud comedic moments as Gerda’s travels take us through a mystical land of snow and magic – even featuring a flight through the sky with a bicycling reindeer!

Having previously teamed up for successful shows Beauty and The Beast in 2017 and Snow White in 2019 (see below), Tobacco Factory Theatres are partnering once again with award-winning company New International Encounter and Cambridge Junction to present this year's festive production.

First published in 1844, Hans Christian Andersen’s epic fairy tale depicts a struggle between good and evil as embodied by this brave child and the wicked Snow Queen.

A key feature of South Bristol's ever-busy cultural hub North Street, The Tobacco Factory boasts a café bar offering food, drink, music and art as well as hosting a weekly market as well as a beautiful theatre. Find out more here.

The Snow Queen has already proved popular since its opening last week and will run at Tobacco Factory Theatre until Sunday 15 January.

Standard tickets are priced at £20 with concessions starting at £16. There is also a family ticket offer for 4 tickets (at least one child) at 15% off. Grab yours here.
