Posted on: 11 Nov 2022

With winter just around the corner and a chill growing in the air, it feels like the perfect time for the whole family to step into the icy world of The Snow Queen.

The Snow Queen will be running at Tobacco Factory Theatre from Thursday 1 December until Sunday 15 January.

Another Bristol Christmas show here and another theatrical retelling of a classic tale, this time Tobacco Factory Theatres, New International Encounter and Cambridge Junction are teaming up to bring Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale to the stage.

Tickets for the festive show can be found here.

Theatre lovers are invited to join young Gerda on an extraordinary quest to the frozen north to save her best friend Kaj from the wicked, icy clutches of the Snow Queen.

Tobacco Factory’s production will be full of rich acoustic music and will be brought to life by a multi-talented cast. This unforgettable folk tale is full of heart, beauty and a lot of laughter as Gerda’s adventures takes her through a mystical land of snow and magic – even featuring a flight through the sky with a bicycling reindeer!

Having wowed Bristol audiences with Beauty an The Beast in 2017 and Snow White in 2019 (see below), Tobacco Factory Theatres are partnering once more with award-winning company New International Encounter and Cambridge Junction to present this joyful festive production.

Originally published in 1844, Hans Christian Andersen’s epic fairy tale depicts a struggle between good and evil as embodied by this brave child and the wicked Snow Queen.

The Tobacco Factory is one of South Bristol’s key cultural hubs; as well as a beautiful theatre, the space boasts a café bar offering food, drink, music and art as well as hosting a weekly market. Find out more here.

The Snow Queen looks set to be a true festive family hit and will be running at Tobacco Factory Theatre from Thursday 1 December until Sunday 15 January.

Standard tickets are priced at £20, concession from £16. There is also a family ticket offer for 4 tickets (at least one child) at 15% off. Purchase your ticket here.
