Just two weeks until Bristol Old Vic’s The Nutcracker takes to the stage

Posted on: 09 Nov 2022

It’s not long until the festive season descends on Bristol once again and that can only mean one thing, Bristol Old Vic will soon be opening its annual Christmas show.

The Nutcracker opens in Bristol on Thursday 24 November and closes on Saturday 7 January.

Written by the theatre's Artistic Director, Tom Morris, this in-house production is a wild retelling of the classic short story that is sure to be full of magic, intrigue, adventure, and show-stopping dance numbers.

Tickets to the Christmas family show are on sale now and can be found on the theatre's website.

On a Christmas Eve unlike any other, a young girl named Claire receives a magical gift that transports her to a fantastical kingdom where toys are brought to life, nutcrackers can speak and just about anything feels possible.

However, she soon discovers that it’s not only mice that are lurking below the floorboards. Danger is coming, will Claire and her companions be able to stop the evil Mouse King before it’s too late? And why is she so fixated on a magical unicorn?

With a stunning cast, crew and creative team (spearheaded by outgoing Creative Director Tom Morris as the writer) behind the production, The Nutcracker looks like the perfect Christmas viewing for all the family.

As always, Bristol Old Vic has a busy programme on offer with their headline production of Hamlet just winding down and Winter plays The Nutcracker and Belle and Sebastien set to begin shortly.
