With more still to be announced, Bristol Beacon have already pulled together an incredible selection of some of the city’s most exciting musical talent. Here’s our round up of some of the top artists taking part…
Vital and forward-thinking party label Club Djembe will be showcasing the very best in global club music with a set that is sure to get the audience moving. Also filling the dance floor will be Bristol’s female-led, genre fluid music collective Concrete Jungyals.
Fresh from the release of their Mercy’s Cut EP and a UK tour with Robbie & Mona, Bingo Fury will be in attendance. With an avant-jazz approach to meticulous and often melancholic songwriting, Bingo conjures a world of monochrome characters in hazy settings with a seedy Broadway sheen.
Bristol’s energetic punk outfit The Pleasure Dome are also billed, and crowds can expect intensity and attitude in abundance. The punk-trio formed in 2019 and have since had extensive radio airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and regional BBC stations across the UK.
Showcasing their exciting fusion of 80s synth pop and clunky dance punk, Saloon Dion’s time is split between Bristol and London. Since their formation in 2021, the much-loved 5 piece have gained a reputation for their eclectic, groove laden sound.
Indie R&B singer, Mercy’s Cartel, is another local star set to take this year’s Takeover by storm. Crafting a unique sound that sets her apart from her contemporaries, Essex born Mercy is known for her poetic lyricism and belting harmonies.
Finally on our rundown is Bristol four-piece Quade. A truly unique group, their unusual and atmospheric sound is reminiscent of movements such as post-rock and krautrock. However, their musical direction is also heavily inspired by the underground techno scene, giving them an intensity not often created by their peers.
This is only a brief look at the amazing acts scheduled to play Bristol Takeover 2022 and there are plenty of names yet to be announced, head to the venue website for a comprehensive look.
