Lionel Richie is set for a spectacular Somerset show next year

The iconic rhythm and blues, motown and soul singer is swinging by the Taunton next summer for a massive open-air show at Somerset County Cricket Club.

 

Lionel Richie will play an epic show at Cooper Associates County Ground on Sunday 11 June 2023.

 

Known for hits such as ‘All Night Long’, Grammy Award-winning artist Lionel Richie is one of the world’s most loved artists and is still performing regularly at the age of 73. Tickets for Richie’s South West show go on sale this Friday, 4 November.

Lionel Richie’s music is part of the fabric of modern popular culture with over 125 million albums sold worldwide. Richie’s has had a long and decorated career, winning an Oscar, a Golden Globe, four Grammy Awards, and recently being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2022 Class. 

 

Furthermore, the Alabama-raised artist has, this year, received the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from the American Library of Congress, becoming the 12th recipient of the prestigious award.

 

A hit-making machine, Richie is also responsible for iconic songs such as ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’, ‘Hello’, ‘Endless Love’ and ‘Lady' as well as a plethora of hits with The Commodores, including ‘Three Times a Lady’, ‘Still’ and ‘Easy’.

 

 

This unmatched musical resume has led Richie to become one of the world’s best-loved and most iconic stars. With this in mind, next year’s visit to Somerset County Cricket Club is sure to prove a spectacular celebration of funk, soul and R&B.
