What's On: November at O2 Academy Bristol

As one of the prime destinations for the biggest acts from the UK and abroad, O2 Academy is one of the city's most popular venues for students and Bristolians alike.

 

European rock bands, legendary cover groups, modern indie icons and heavy metal orchestras are all appearing at one of Bristol's biggest music venues next month with an event taking place almost every day between Tuesday 1 and Saturday 26 November.

 

 

November is traditionally one of the busiest times for Bristol's nighttime economy and this year is no different with a jam-packed programme of live shows, DJ sets and special events taking place throughout the city. Here we take a look at what's coming up at Bristol's O2 Academy in November 2022...

 

The Pretty Reckless
 

First up is Pretty Reckless on Tuesday 1 November: made up of ex-Hollywood star Taylor Momsen (Vocals), Ben Phillips (Guitar), Jamie Perkins (drums), and Mark Damon (bass), the band formed in 2009. Over the years, the group have graduated from sweaty grassroots venues to number one hits and some of the world's biggest stages.

 

This show is sold out, however, it is worth keeping an eye out for resale tickets.

The Rasmus
 

Finnish hard-rockers, The Rasmus, are next up on Wednesday 2 November with brand new music for their tenth studio album in tow, Rise, the group's first since 2017’s Dark Matter.  Formed in 1995, their debut record was certified Gold in their homeland Finland, paving way for almost three decades of international success.

The Smyths: Strangeways Here We Come 35th Anniversary Tour

 

Forming in 2003 because of a deep passion for the music of Morrissey, Marr and co, The Smyths see themselves as more than just a cover band. They want to recreate what it was to see and hear The Smiths live and, on Friday 4 November, they will do so in Bristol to celebrate the anniversary of the 1987 album, Strangeways Here We Come.

Carpenter Brut
 

On Sunday 6 November, French artist Carpenter Brut will be rolling into town with his unique take on the genre, incorporating electronics, metal and horror films to form his own unique brand of dark synthwave. He is best known for t EP I, EP II and EP III which were collected and released together as the album, Trilogy in 2015.

Maggie Rogers
 

Maryland native Maggie Rogers will be taking to the O2 stage on Monday 7 November. The singer-songwriter is touring her brand-new record Surrender (the first since her acclaimed 2019 debut, Hear It in a Past Life) and is sure to pull a large crowd thanks to her endearing brand of folktronica.

Ally Pally Comes to Bristol: Student Darts and Fancy Dress
 

On Thursday 10 November, the Ally Pally Student Darts Tour comes to town with plenty of 180s and all-around top entertainment to look forward to.  This is sure to be a rip-roaring event full of singing, chanting and boogie dancing.

Blossoms
 

Stockport's very own indie buzz band will be dropping by Bristol on Friday 11 November. With five Top 5 UK albums under their belt, Blossoms are heading on a UK tour fresh from a run of huge gigs, including dates with The Killers and an acclaimed Glastonbury set featuring a cameo from Mel C.

Fozzy
 

American rockers Fozzy will be in Bristol on Saturday 12 November: fronted by WWE megastar Chris Jericho, the group started out as an Ozzy Osbourne cover band but have since established themselves as a hard rock mainstay. As Jericho himself has said: "If Metallica and Black Sabbath had a bastard child, it would be Fozzy."

 

Muna

 

American queer indie pop band Muna will be rolling into Bristol on Sunday 13 November, having made a name for themselves thanks to their powerful and political releases thus far as well as their work with the likes of Phoebe Bridgers. Support comes from drag queen, model and punk rocker, Bimini Bon-Boulash.

Wet Leg
 

Wet Leg burst onto the scene out of nowhere in 2021 with their slick, catchy, fully-formed brand of indie rock landing them a UK Number One for their self-titled debut album. The Isle of Wight duo are heading to Bristol on Monday 14 November as part of a massive UK and European tour.

 

This gig is sold out but look out for resales.

Confidence Man
 

Next up on Tuesday 15 November is Confidence Man with the Brisbane-based leftfield dance-pop duo bringing their camp, energetic dance anthems to the South West. Following an acclaimed Glastonbury performance in the summer, they have added a slew of extra dates to their UK tour.

Mother Mother

 

Vancouver indie-rock five-piece, Mother Mother, are taking their eighth full-length album, Inside, on the road next month with a trip to O2 Academy Bristol scheduled for Friday 18 November. Inside sees the band come full circle and re-explore the sound that got them to where they are today.

Annie Mac - Before Midnight

 

 

Annie Mac – Before Midnight is the popular DJ's brand new clubbing experience that runs from 7 PM until midnight, from the one and only Annie Macmanus, the internationally renowned broadcaster, author, disc jockey and events curator. This event is sold out but keep an eye out for resale tickets.

Holly Humberstone
 

One of the BRITs' Rising Stars, Holly Humberstone, is coming to Bristol as part of her biggest UK tour to date. April saw the release of  ‘Sleep Tight’, a single co-written with The 1975’s Matty Healy and she has recently released the album, Can You Afford To Lose Me?

Sabrina Claudio: Based on a Feeling Tour
 

Following a series of critically acclaimed projects, sold-out tours and 2 billion streams, platinum-selling Puerto Rican/Cuban songstress Sabrina Claudio confidently projects sensuality, spirit, and soul beyond barriers into her 2022 project, Based On A Feeling. She will be heading to Bristol on Thursday 24 November.
