Posted on: 27 May 2022

Organisers will gather representatives from a range of leading local food and drinks brands to discuss the choices and challenges behind their businesses.

Assembly West are bringing their ‘Purpose in Practice’ event to South Bristol this summer, as part of an ongoing series that aims to promote and celebrate the city’s diverse landscape of local businesses.

Taking place at The Hen & Chicken on Tuesday 5 July between 16:30 and 19:00, the talk will see five prominent independent Bristol businesses meet to explore what good business means in practice.

The event is free to attend and tickets can be booked here.

In 2017, Assembly was formed by a collective of like-minded collaborators, keen to find a way to work together to consult, co-design and co-deliver with local Bristol clients to create the best ideas and work that they possibly can.

In their ‘Purpose in Practice’ events, the company opens up conversations with businesses from all over the city with the aim to demonstrate what good business really means.

The Hen and Chicken event is the second in the series, focusing on The West’s thriving food and drink scene and some of the biggest challenges facing the sector - from issues around staff welfare to the increase in costs.

Speaking at the event are Dominic Bore, co-owner of Bianchi Group (Pasta Loco, Pasta Ripiena, Bianchis Restaurant and Pizza Bianchi); Anna Herbert, Marketing Director of Hobbs House Bakery as well as Paul Castle, founder of Saltford based Flourish Foodhall & Kitchen.

There are also a range of breweries taking part in the brewery roundtable. Announced so far are Sam Burrows, MD of Bristol Beer Factory and Maria Knowles, co-owner of New Bristol Brewery, with one more representative yet to be confirmed.

The ‘Food and Drink Scene’ business event will take place at The Hen & Chicken (210 North Street, Southville, BS3 1JF) on Tuesday 5 July.

The agenda is as follows: arrival is at 16:30, the first speakers will take to the stage at 17:00 followed by discussion and networking at 17:30, there will be another talk at 18:00, closing comment and networking at 18:30 before the event ends and attendees move to the main bar at 19:00.

While the talk is aimed at small business owners from around the West Country, anyone interested in how good business can shape a company is welcome. Tickets are free and can be found here.
