A new group exhibition showcasing a diverse selection of photographers, Intersectional Geographies, has opened at the Martin Parr Foundation (MPF) gallery in Arnos Vale.
Following an open call for UK-based artists in 2021, MPF selected Jacqueline Ennis-Cole's proposed collaborative show and will exhibit it in the BS4 gallery from Thursday 27 January until Sunday 3 April.
Find out more about this exhibition via MPF's website.
Ennis-Cole's curation includes work created to address inclusion within society at a time of climate crisis, social distancing and human rights violations.
There are a confirmed 12 photographers contributing to the exhibition, each highlighting a concern that resonates with them. Those interested in attending should note that some work may be considered upsetting.
In a statement, Alona Pardo, curator at Barbican Art Gallery, London, said: "Intersectional Geographies unpacks and addresses complex and timely ideas from climate and social justice to extractive mining practices and questions of gender through the work of a diverse and international list of photographic voices working across the conceptual and documentary mode."
The foundation was set up to preserve the archive and legacy of Martin Parr, one of the most significant documentary photographers of post war Britain.
MPF is designed to support emerging, established and overlooked photographers who have made and continue to make work focused on Britain and Ireland, also striving to make photography accessible to all.
In BS4, a library of British-Irish photobooks can be browsed, with many events, exhibitions and collections also regularly found at the much-loved site.
