August Club Highlights: 9 huge parties coming up in Bristol this month

Join a host of revered Bristol promoters as you make that long-awaited return to the dancefloor.

 

It's here! An actual list of club highlights! Following last month's nationwide reopening of nightlife venues, clubs across Bristol are easing back into their regular events programming, getting ready to host an array of top-notch parties.

 

From the nationally-renowned Alfresco Disco crew to Slack Alice, Livity Sound and Club Blanco, the city's promoters and labels are on hand to make sure your first dance in months is one to remember.

 

We haven't been able to put together a monthly rundown of Bristol parties for almost a year and a half due to the pandemic, so we're over the moon to be able to say: read on to browse our picks for the very best club events coming up in August.

 

 

Canapé w/Lurka & Ian DPM @ Exchange | Friday 6 August

 

Kicking things off on the first full weekend of the month, Canapé Records are taking over community-owned Old Market venue The Exchange for a night of forward-thinking electronic music and live visuals.

 

Fringe White boss and Timedance, Livity Sound and Hotline Recordings affiliate Lurka will be providing the soundtrack alongside Noods Radio resident Ian DPM, while local artists Holly Mingo and Sam Chilton return to a club setting with their immersive live visuals.

 

A selection of Canapé residents will be on hand to provide some stellar support as part of one of the team's biggest events to date.

THE UNDERGROUND - 15 Years of Alfresco Disco @ Secret Location | Saturday 7 August

 

Promoters don't come much more ambitious than Alfresco Disco, responsible for some of the most memorable one-off parties Bristol has seen in recent years.

 

After a pandemic-induced hiatus, the team are returning to host another major event at another secret location to celebrate 15 years in the game.

 

Expect a solid lineup, massive genre-spanning track selections and an unbeatable party atmosphere as the Alfresco crew get back to doing what they do best.

CNCPT x LockMars pres. Slimzee b2b Riz La Teef @ The Loco Klub | Saturday 7 August

 

The Loco Klub has emerged as a firm favourite among Bristol club-goers in recent years, and for anyone who's been there, it's not hard to see why.

 

The unique space is a perfect home to parties and live events of all shapes and sizes, and should be a great fit as CNCPT and LockMars join forces for the second time to bring together two UK heavyweights, Slimzee & Riz La Teef.

 

Catch the two acclaimed London-based DJs as they delve into their expansive collections of hard-hitting grime, garage and jungle as part of a must-see two-hour b2b.

Dance Sundays w/Crazy P @ Breaking Bread | Sunday 9 August

 

Breaking Bread have confirmed a lineup for the first edition of Dance Sunday, a new weekly event for the BS8 hospitality pop-up made possible by the government's recent removal of Covid-19 restrictions on nightlife venues.

 

Alongside Team Love co-founder Dave Harvey and frequent collaborator Christophe, the inimitable Crazy P collective will be taking care of headlining duties to complete a full night of carefree electronic music on Sunday 8 August.

 

The Breaking Bread team have sadly confirmed that August will be their final month on The Downs, so we heartily recommend you get yourself down and have a dance while you still can.

Slack Alice 5th Birthday @ Bristol Beacon Terrace | Thursday 12 August

 

Having announced the imminent relaunch of the series at the turn of the month, Bristol Beacon's Terrace Sessions will be in full flow by the time Slack Alice arrive for an all-night takeover on Thursday 12 August.

 

Celebrating their fifth birthday, the crew are bringing renowned local DJs Ha-Trigon and DJ Ductape to central Bristol for an evening of industrial, post-punk and EBM sounds.

Livity Sound w/K-Lone, Cando & Yushh @ Strange Brew | Saturday 14 August

 

All-conquering Bristol-born label Livity Sound are returning to Strange Brew this month, bringing with them special guests K-Lone (for an exclusive live set), Cando and Pressure Dome boss Yushh.

 

Rescheduled from last month, the event will be kicking off early and finishing late, and will feature sets from Livity residents Hodge & Peverelist.

 

Expect a vibrant atmosphere and more than a few curveballs in this one - Livity Sound are celebrating their tenth birthday in 2021.

Housework w/Shanti Celeste @ Strange Brew | Friday 20 August

 

Staying on Fairfax Street a week later, world-renowned Bristol alumni Shanti Celeste is bringing her Housework party back to the city for an eagerly-anticipated all-nighter.

 

Celeste will be joined on the night by a serious selection of in-demand UK DJs, including Gramrcy, Golesworthy and Bristol's own Daisy Moon.

Club Blanco pres. CRY FREEDOM @ Secret Location | Saturday 21 August

 

Tried-and-tested party starters Club Blanco are returning bigger and better than ever post-lockdown, bringing internationally-renowned selector Ivan Smagghe back to the city to top one of their most ambitious lineups to date on 21 August.

 

Taking place in another secret BS4 location (15 minutes journey from the city centre), attendees can expect an old-school warehouse setup and world-class selections courtesy of Smagghe and Bristol locals Chez de Milo, Ellie Stokes, Modxi and Tilly.

My Nu Leng (All Night Long) @ Thekla | Friday 27 August

 

The final night of My Nu Leng's 10th anniversary Thekla residency promises to be a memorable affair, with the duo poised to go out with a bang on Friday 27 August.

 

The past decade has seen My Nu Leng sell out multiple tours, headline major venues and festival stages worldwide, and release an incredible collection of innovative electronic music.

 

Having taken over Thekla every Friday throughout August alongside frequent collaborator Dread MC and a host of special guests, you can be sure that the veteran duo will have a few tricks up their sleeves for their closing party.
