Bristol Hippodrome pantomime postponed due to coronavirus

Posted on: 24 Sep 2020

The decision comes following extensive consultation between venue operators and event staff.

The Bristol Hippodrome team have confirmed that this year's panto won't be going ahead, with festive performances postponed at ATG theatre venues nationwide amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

This year's production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was set to be one of the Hippodrome's biggest-ever pantomimes, starring John Barrowman as the Wicked Queen.

Despite this year's cancellation, the show has been successfully moved to 2021, with the same show and cast confirmed for the revised dates.

In a statement posted across their social media channels, Hippodrome operators ATG Tickets confirmed that ticket holders don't need to take any action, with the team ready to contact customers regarding their options.

Announcing the news yesterday (Wednesday 23 September), ATG said: "Due to the ongoing impact of Covid-19, it is with sadness that we have taken the decision to suspend all Pantomimes at ATG venues until Christmas 2021.

"Following discussions with our producing partner, Qdos Pantomimes, we agreed it was no longer possible for us to deliver the planned performances this year.

"We know customers will have been looking forward to seeing the show and we apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience this will cause."

Those who had purchased tickets for Snow White and the Seven Dwarves at the Bristol Hippodrome will have tickets automatically transferred to 2021 performances, or can request refunds or credit vouchers if they are unable to attend on revised dates.

The cancellation of this year's pantomime performances comes following news that all performances at the Bristol Hippodrome are to be suspended until 27 November at the earliest.

After all shows at the renowned theatre were suspended initially with the introduction of lockdown in March, the Hippodrome team were hoping to reopen in August, before the closure was extended into September, then October.
