The Stokes Croft-based station are on the lookout for new DJs and radio hosts.

1020 Radio are calling on womxn of colour to get involved in their latest Walk-In Centre day, offering an opportunity to host a show on the station's airwaves as part of an open-invite, all-day event.

With slots available to anyone who doesn't already have a residency with 1020, the Walk-In Centre is designed to get people into radio and open the station up to new DJs and hosts.

The station's third Walk-In Centre event of 2020, broadcasting from 12:00-00:00 on Saturday 29 August, is open to womxn of colour only. Any genres and show formats are welcome, from DJ sets to spoken word, live music, chat shows and more.

Launched in 2014, 1020 Radio has emerged as one of Bristol's best-loved radio stations in recent years, offering a vital platform to a wide range of established and up-and-coming artists and collectives.

Operating out of the back of Elevator Sound in Stokes Croft, 1020 is now a pillar of Bristol's musical community, working with an array of renowned promoters and artists to broadcast an endless variety of sounds and styles over the airwaves.

During lockdown, the station hosted the first-ever digital version of Rave on Avon after the full festival was postponed, and released their first-ever compilation in April to raise funds for frontline NHS workers.

Whether you're Bristol-based or from further afield, 1020 are calling on any aspiring DJs to get involved and sign up to play live in the studio or pre-record a show to be aired as part of their latest Walk-In Centre event.

There are 24 30-minute slots available, which will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you need to pre-record your show, the station will be on hand to offer advice to people who are keen to get involved but require some help with recording.
