Lakota to open new outdoor events space in July

Posted on: 18 Jun 2020

Expect music, comedy, film screenings and much more from Lakota's new garden setup.

Lakota are all set to open up their brand-new outdoor events space in July, reopening their doors for a varied programme of DJ sets, live sport, live comedy, a pub quiz and on-site food stalls.

Opening on Saturday 4 July as part of the 2020 St Pauls Carnival, Lakota Gardens will utilise the club's courtyard area and Stokes Croft Beer Garden, with a new stage and around 60 tables to be set up.

After months of lockdown and Bristol's renowned events schedule restricted to a string of live streams, Lakota will be hosting three parties at their new impromptu venue as well as three Premier League screenings.

With social distancing rules in place, attendees can expect an upbeat mix of house, R&B, hip-hop, disco and more from the Sunday Social (Sunday 5 July), Sit Down Disco (Friday 10 July) and Saturday Night Fever (Saturday 11 July).

The first of three Premier League games to be shown at Lakota Gardens will be Liverpool's potentially title-winning fixture against Aston Villa on Saturday 4 July, before Aston Villa take on Man United on Wednesday 8 and Spurs face Arsenal on Saturday 11.

Lakota have teamed up with the team behind Pasta Loco and Bianchi's to supply attendees with restaurant-quality pizzas at every event, working alongside the bar team as they serve up draught pints, cocktails, slushies and more.

Despite confirmation back in April that Lakota is set to close in the near future, with flats and an office space to be built in its place, the club have spent the majority of 2020 celebrating Bristol's renowned underground music scene as best they can given the current circumstances.

Despite the lockdown, the social media team have been working hard to shine a light on emerging local DJs and artists, with several featuring in a marathon 28-hour charity live stream to mark the club's 28th birthday earlier this month.
