Don't miss a heady mix of local and international talent on Bristol's favourite stages this month.

We've officially hit March, which means Bristol's renowned festival season is almost underway. Check out our rundown of the very best gigs and live performances going down across the city, with the Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival and Ritual Union both on the way before the end of the month.

Stanlaey @ The Canteen | Wednesday 11 March

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Bethany Stenning's Stanlaey project is quickly becoming a major part of Bristol's burgeoning jazz scene.

Laying somewhere between the realms of folk, jazz and pop, her varied and far-reaching sound takes influence from the likes of Sigur Ros and Hiatus Kaiyote, and has been tipped by fellow Bristol outfits Waldo's Gift and Ishmael Ensemble.

March is always a busy month for guitar virtuoso Denny Illett, well known up and down the country as the Artistic Director for the Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival.

The esteemed British musician has played with world-renowned artists and acts including The Meters, Dr John and Harry Connick Jr over the years, and you can catch him on stage for a solo performance at The Future Inn ahead of the 2020 edition of the jazz festival.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich @ St George's Concert Hall | Friday 20 March

Touring in support of new single, 'Elephant', renowned singer-songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich is taking his live show on the road to venues he's never played before, with a Bristol leg scheduled at St George's Concert Hall on Friday 20 March.

Leftwich's signature combination of soft vocals and delicate guitar notes should be a perfect fit for St George's, in our opinion one of Bristol's most stirring live spaces.

Check out our review of Benjamin Francis Leftwich's most recent Bristol performance, at Thekla back in April 2019.
