Circomedia announces experiential auction prizes

Posted on: 13 Mar 2024

Circomedia have announced the prizes in their 30th anniversary Spring Gala auction – and they’re astounding.

Circomedia is Bristol’s centre for contemporary circus & physical theatre, based out of the striking St Paul’s Church (found in Portland Square). A true veteran of Bristol’s arts scene, Circomedia are a veteran enclave of Bristolian culture, and a symbol of Bristol’s creative, cabaret spirit.

Now, after 30 years of running, Circomedia are getting their flowers in the form of a 30th anniversary Spring Gala. The evening includes mesmerising circus entertainment, and world-class musicians like Ruby Turner MBE & Jethro Tull’s John O’Hara – as well as a very special auction.

Hosted by East Bristol Auctions, the proceeds of the auction are part of a fundraising effort to keep Circomedia going strong for (at least) another 30 years! All of the prizes are experience-based, to match the theme of the amazing experiences Circomedia offers the people of Bristol – and they’ve now been announced.

There are 14 lots in total, including:

4 tickets to Mama Mia on the West End as guests of writer Catherine Johnson. Catherine will join the winners in the auditorium, buy you drinks in the interval, and afterwards share all the behind the scenes gossip about the stage and film productions!

An exceptionally rare opportunity to be editor for the day at celebrated local publication, Bristol24/7, with guidance from usual editor and maestro Martin Booth.

The opportunity to spend a day as the guests of Doctor Who’s Paul McGann at Portsmouth Comic-Con – with an appearance by Sylvester McCoy as well.

A day-for-two on the set of All Creatures Great And Small as personal guests of director Andy Hay. Experience the filming up-close, along with the option to make a costumed appearance on screen! You’ll also receive a behind-the-scenes book, signed by the cast, as a memento to take home with you.

Exclusive world-first tickets to Derren Brown’s yet-to-be-announced 2025 world tour, including a meet & greet with Derren after the show.

Other experiences include a signed illustration of Wallace & Gromit, a private show by world-class juggler Rod Laver, a group African drumming workshop, a one-to-one aerial rope lesson, a bespoke three-hour pottery masterclass, the opportunity to star in a short film with Joe Sims and Jayde Adams, a music masterclass with John O’Hara, a behind-the-scenes peek at Emma Rice’s new production, The Bhudda of Suburbia, and the opportunity to join Tony Robinson for the filming of Time Team at Sutton Hoo.

The auction takes place during the Gala, Saturday 23 March. For tickets, head to Circomedia’s website.
