East African food specialists Jikoni are landing at The Victoria Ale House this week

Patrons at the popular Clifton watering hole will be able to enjoy fabulous dishes from tasty curries, dirty fries, chargrilled chicken and much, much more!

 

Beginning this Friday (16 February), Jikoni East Africa will take over The Victoria Ale House between 5.30 PM and 9.30 PM on Friday and Saturday nights. Book your table by calling the pub at 07966 373968 or email Jikoni, HERE.

 

 

Experience the vibrancy and richness of East African food with carefully curated menus that take you on a culinary journey through the region. Jikoni offers traditional and inspired dishes from Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania.

 

This popular Bristol eatery – which is based on Upper York Street - highlights the melting pot of cultures and influences; from the Indian Ocean spice trade to traditional cooking techniques and the wonderful array of exotic ingredients that the area offers.

 

Jikoni, which translates to ‘kitchen’ in Swahili, is the brainchild of chefs Iman and James who have been working together since they first met in 2017. Inspired by Iman’s knowledge of the Nairobi food scene, her mother’s home cooking and James’ industry experience, the pair aim to share East Africa’s exciting flavours with one and all.

 

Ingredients are sourced locally where possible and Jikoni support the Kabisa Foundation, a charity supporting families and local businesses in Kenya and Tanzania. They are also committed to providing opportunities to young people from BAME and other disadvantaged backgrounds, working in collaboration with the Black South West Network.

 

From this Friday, Jikoni will be taking over weekends at Clifton’s The Victoria Ale House. This small and cosy 19th century, Grade II listed tavern, is located just next door to Clifton Lido, just off Whiteladies Road. In addition to top-quality food, this hidden gem of a pub runs a weekly quiz night and features a wide range of top-quality beverages.
