Grey Daze have announced their first-ever UK tour, celebrating the memory of their original vocalist and founding member, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington.

 

Grey Daze’s UK tour will see them play Bristol’s Thekla on Sunday 12 May 2024.

 

The band were formed in Phoenix, AZ in 1993 by drummer Sean Sowdell and Bennington while the pair were still in high school. Their bond was palpable and Grey Daze relentlessly toured and recorded two acclaimed albums between 1994 and 1998. When Bennington’s star rose with Linkin Park’s major label success, Grey Daze faded into obscurity, although Sean and Chester remained close friends, forming the successful ‘Club Tattoo’ brand in the US.

 

In 2016, Chester instigated a Grey Daze reunion, announcing a show the following year and beginning work on a brand-new album. Chester tragically passed away in July 2017 aged just 41, sending shockwaves across the globe and he never had the chance to reconnect with his old friends on stage.

 

Following the tragedy, the remaining Grey Daze members unearthed the original recordings of Chester’s unmistakable vocals and were inspired to finish the work they had begun. In 2020, Amends was released, reaching Number One on the UK rock and metal album charts.

 

The record featured guest appearances from members of Korn, POD, Bush and Breaking Benjamin as well as vocal performances from Chester’s family, who were involved in the project throughout.

 

In 2022, the band released Pheonix, a second posthumous album, featuring more special guests including Chester’s twin daughters Lily and Lila who got to sing with their father one last time. Last year, Grey Daze performed to a crowd of 10,000 fans in Phoenix and enlisted the help of rising LA rock singer Cris Hodges as vocalist.
