With everything from family events and workshops to world-class shows, the home of contemporary circus in Bristol is back with a new vibrant programme.

Circomedia’s autumn/winter season runs from Friday 6 September to Tuesday 24 December 2024.

Expect a typically unique blend of circus, physical theatre and cabaret performances for everyone from families to seasoned aficionados with this brand-new season that will celebrate the school’s prestigious history by shining a light on some of the talented alumni now working on the international circus scene.

The new season will include a performance-lecture-demonstration on clowning and mask work by school founder Bim Mason, two exciting double bills by alumni from the last 10 years, VOLT, a regional circus scratch-night presenting snippets by Southwest creatives and hit show Natalie Inside Out by world-class hand-balancer Natalie Reckert.

These celebrations are accompanied by showcases from Circomedia’s current cohort. As the only MA of its kind in the world, four unique projects will be presented over two nights on Friday 6t and Saturday 7 September. In November, Cirocmedia’s BTEC students will showcase their first-term work in a cabaret-style public performance.

On Saturday 14, for Heritage Open Days festival, Circomedia will be hosting its third Open Doors event of 2024. Bringing accessible circus skills to young people in the local community, this will be a free day of activities offering attendees the chance to try circus skills, African drumming and dance routines, alongside activities from local St Paul’s creatives.

Towards the end of the season, two family shows will take to the stage. Run, run, as fast as you can to book tickets for The Gingerbread Man on Friday 1 November. Presented by Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company and directed by Circomedia alum Niki McCretton, this is the perfect half-term treat for ages 3+ and their families.

Finishing off the season with a three-day run of shows from Sunday 22nd - Tuesday 24th December, is Circomedia’s family-friendly Winter Show Commission, Mother Deer. For adults, The Decadent Rabbit Cabaret will return to the stage for a run at the end of November, with a dazzling new line-up for their annual cabaret extravaganza.
