All the tribute bands playing O2 Academy between now and the end of the year
Posted on: 23 Jul 2024We all know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but as well as stroking the ego of some of music’s biggest names, cover bands are an endless source of entertainment!
Often cheaper and easier to see than the real thing, tributes to some of our favourite stars have never been more popular. O2 Academy is one of the city’s tribute band hot spots and, with that in mind, we’ve put together a handy guide to all wonderful tribute bands playing the venue this year, from Stereophonics to The Stone Roses.

The Phonics are the UK’s premier Stereophonics tribute act, playing tracks from every album and their set will have something for everyone, including hits such as ‘Have A Nice Day’, ‘Maybe Tomorrow’, ‘Dakota’ and, of course, ‘Handbags & Gladrags’.
They will be joined by A Band Called Malice – The Definitive Tribute to The Jam. The real deal, this group will take you back to ‘When You’re Young’, whether you’re ‘In the City’, find yourself in a ‘Strange Town’, are ‘Going Underground’, or are simply ‘A Boy About Town’.
