In association with production company Glass Half Full, the UK’s longest continually running theatre is presenting the European premiere of Reverberation.

From the critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning writer Matthew López, comes a sexy, funny and hauntingly human piece titled Reverberation. The play follows Jonathan who, after a personal tragedy, has withdrawn from the world around him, with little social life beyond the men that he meets online. When the enigmatic free spirit Claire moves into the flat upstairs, she attempts to coax him out of his shell.

Drawn together by a mutual need for some emotional attachment, the pair go on to form a connection, but the past eventually reverberates into the present, threatening their newfound happiness. Reverberation follows Matthew López’s 2018 play The Inheritance, which became the most honoured American play in a generation.

López’s extraordinary play about loneliness and longing was originally staged in Connecticut back in 2015. But this brand-new production has been reshaped by López, transposing the action across the Atlantic to London, and Bristol will mark its European premiere.

Rising director Jack Sain leads a creative team that includes Ti Green (Touching the Void) who makes a return to Bristol Old Vic to design, along with sound designer Nicola T Chang (For Black Boys…), lighting designer Robbie Butler (The Glass Menagerie), video designer Daniel Denton and intimacy co-ordinator Robbie Taylor Hunt.

Reverberation will run at Bristol Old Vic from Wednesday 2 October until Saturday 2 November 2024 with general sale tickets available from 10 AM on Monday 10 June – buy tickets HERE.
