Thursday 22 August sees Bristol Film Festival’s screening programme at The Planetarium begin with a perennial festival favourite in the shape of beloved Disney Pixar sci-fi Wall-E (2008). This will be followed by Part One of Denis Villeneuve’s epic Dune (2021), now a certified cultural sensation!
Superheroes will be descending on The Planetarium on Friday 23 August with a Marvel double bill featuring Robert Downey Jr.’s debut as Iron Man (2008) and epic ensemble film, and denouement of Phase One, Avengers Assemble (2012).
Saturday 24 August will begin with a visit from Shatner, Nimoy and the rest of the USS Enterprise crew in cult classic Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan (1982), followed by a screening of hilarious sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest (1999) – a loving parody of Star Trek and similar franchises.
Finally, on Saturday 21 September, The Planetarium will host screenings of, firstly, another tour de force from Denis Villeneuve’s Oscar winner, Arrival (2016), starring Amy Adams and, secondly, Ridley Scott’s Robinson Crusoe-esque space epic, The Martian (2015).
Bristol Film Festival was started in 2015 to provide an alternative experience for lovers of film and cinema as well as celebrate the cultural landscape of his home city, Bristol.
The concept is simple: to bring classic films back to the big screen, in some of Bristol’s most iconic and interesting venues. Visit the festival website to browse the full list of screenings and to secure your tickets.
