Not long now until the world-famous Bristol Balloon Fiesta returns

With the weather improving, attentions in Bristol are beginning to turn towards the city’s jam-packed summer schedule – and one uplifting event in particular!

 

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta runs at Ashton Court Estate from Friday 9 until Sunday 11 August 2024.

 

Once more taking over the beautiful Ashton Court Estate this summer, this three day event is Europe’s largest ballooning event, offering a whole heap of fun with activities planned for the whole family alongside legendary mainstays the Mass Ascents and Night Glows.

At the heart of the Balloon Fiesta experience is a real game of chance, the Mass Ascents. With these spectacles taking place twice a day, lucky visitors will be able to see Ashton Court awash with a rainbow of colour at dawn or at dusk – that’s as long as these majestic balloons take flight!

 

On Friday and Saturday, visitors from Bristol and beyond can stay into the night to experience the event’s glorious Night Glows. As the dusk descends, dozens of hot air balloons inflate, using their burners to glow in time to a soundtrack provided by BBC Radio Bristol – bringing the party atmosphere to proceedings.

 

Throughout the day, there will also be a programme of entertainment, traders, caterers, exhibitors and activities allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the ballooning world and this unique day out, even when the weather prevents lift-off. Browse the full programme here.

 

Finally, for 2024, the Fiesta is proud to host the British National Hot Air Balloon Championships, which will see approximately 15 teams compete in the air space over Bristol. Competing teams will be set a series of tasks to score points, offering an opportunity for visitors to witness the incredible skill of these pilots.
