The band first emerged with their 2013 debut album Inform - Educate - Entertain, garnering particular interest due to their inventive use of archival samples from the BFI as audio portals to the Battle of Britain, Everest and more. The Race For Space came two years ago, using similar methods to transport listeners to The Space Race.
In 2017, the band enlisted the help of voices including Manic Street Preachers’ James Dean Bradfield for Every Valley, a moving exploration of community and memory via the rise and fall of the British coal industry that reached as high as number four in the UK charts.
Bright Magic came in 2021, inspired by the group’s move to Berlin, it used samples and the English language sparingly. A less linear effort than before, incorporating more experimental influences and featuring various guests Blixa Bargeld, Andreya Casablanca, EERA and Nina Hoss.
In addition to Bristol, the UK and Ireland leg of Public Service Broadcasting’s 2024 tour will see them play shows in Cork, Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Manchester, Leeds, Gateshead, Nottingham, Coventry, Cambridge, Cardiff, London, Brighton and Aylesbury.
