Edinburgh Fringe favourite Rob Auton is bringing his new show to Bristol

Posted on: 16 Apr 2024

Fresh off the back of a critically acclaimed sell-out run at last year’s Fringe, the award-winning comedian writer and actor returns to Tobacco Factory Theatres.

Rob Auton will perform ‘The Rob Auton Show’ at South Bristol’s Tobacco Factory Theatres on Sunday 28 April 2024.

The much-loved stand-up star has written an astonishing ten hit Fringe shows covering specific themes including the colour yellow in ‘The Yellow Show’, sleep in ‘The Sleep Show’ and hair in ‘The Hair Show’. In this, his most Auton-biographical show yet, Rob turns the pen on himself to explore the memories and feelings that create his life.

Rob Auton first appeared on the stand-up comedy circuit in 2008 before presenting his first Edinburgh Fringe show, ‘The Yellow Show’ in 2013, which was met with critical acclaim and earned Auton Dave’s Funniest Joke award. A UK tour followed, and the show was later adapted into a short film for Channel 4’s Random Acts.

He has since become a staple of the festival, performing a new show every year with each one centred around a very specific theme. Auton was named as Glastonbury Festival’s poet-in-residence in 2014 and has performed on popular TV shows such as The Russell Howard Hour and Stand Up Central.

Away from stand-up, Auton is a prolific actor and has appeared in the likes of long-running ITV comedy-drama Cold Feet, acclaimed black comedy End Of The F***ing World, ensemble comedy Miracle Workers and Rose Matafeo’s Starstruck.

If that’s not enough, Auton is a talented illustrator and has published five books, including his most recent book of poetic prose, short stories and biro drawings, I Strongly Believe In Incredible Things. Throughout 2020, he put out a daily podcast of short pieces of writing – it went on to win gold at the British Podcast Awards.
