A viral sensation and acclaimed political satirist is coming to the Redgrave next month

Posted on: 25 Mar 2024

Best known for her massively viral sketch depicting a clueless Tory MP, comedian & satirist Rosie Holt will be visiting The Redgrave next month with her new show.

Rosie Holt is an acclaimed comedian, actor and satirist, whose social media comedy videos have garnered more than 6.5 million views online – in particular, her character of a clueless Tory MP being questioned about the Partygate scandal. Holt is also a familiar face and voice across TV and radio comedy, appearing on everything from The Russell Howard Hour, to Radio 4’s The News Quiz.

Now, Rosie Holt is bringing her brand new show to Bristol’s Redgrave Theatre – hot off the back of a hugely successful Edinburgh Fringe season – to further explore her metaphorical tightrope act on the thin line between politics and entertainment.

The worse the political career, the more lucrative the subsequent entertainment opportunities. Matt Hancock may have slaughtered millions but now he's making a killing. So can Rosie Holt's viral hit MP follow "politainers" Dorries, Farage and Rees-Mogg and leap from the pages of Hansard to Heat?

With many completely fooled into thinking Holt’s MP character was real, in a way that was quite unintended for the satirist, that line between politics and entertainment is one that she has her own unique view on – perfectly placing her to parody the pugnacious politicians that persist in placing themselves in profitable positions.

The show has been described by The Times as 'The Thick of It levels of writing and performance applied to a very current flavour of political bullsh*t', and 'Beautifully observed and performed' by The Guardian.

Rosie Holt: THAT’S POLITAINMENT! is taking place at the Redgrave on Sunday 21st April. Tickets are on sale now, and can be acquired from the Redgrave Theatre website.
