Bristol Easter Holiday Events 2024

Posted on: 15 Mar 2024

With spring officially springing in just a week, Tuesday 19 March, and many of us already feeling the effects of the better weather and cherry blossoms, there’s one thing truly dominating everyone’s minds – the eggiest time of the year, Easter!

Whether the religious aspects of the holiday appeal to you, you’re a springtime superfan – or you’re just in it for the chocolate – Easter is a promise of fun for all the family.

Bristol is chock full of Easter fun to be had, but sorting through it all can be overwhelming – that’s why we’ve put together this guide for you to make the most of the Easter holidays.

Avon Valley Wildlife Park’s EGGStravaganza

Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park are going all-out this year for Easter: as well as a classic Easter egg hunt over the Easter weekend (hunting for the mysterious Golden Egg) & an adults-only after-dark egg hunt, the plans feature live lambing for two weeks, and Avon Valley’s first-ever stage show: featuring the Easter Bunny and, strangely, the Grinch! Plus, a 1.5m candy cannon!

Spring Family Trail at Westonbirt Arboretum

Running this spring until the 31st of May, this springtime activity trail is a great way to get kids outdoors and into the fresh air.

As well as learning all about the trees of the Arboretum as usual, this new trail invites children to discover nine different springtime superheroes – in the form of nine fascinating animals. Families can pick up a trail map from the welcome building, and then set off to discover them all, with kids able to rate them as they go, and even design their own springtime superhero on the back of the map!

Easter at Wookey Hole

Wookey Hole, just outside of Bristol, is a classic family attraction, so it makes total sense to head down to the Hole for the Easter holidays!

You may know the Easter Bunny, but what about the Easter Witch? Wookey Hole’s famous witch loves to celebrate the Easter season – it’s one of her favourite times of the year. If you visit Wookey Hole between the March 23 and April 14, you might run into the Witch as she roams about saying hello!

This event features an Easter egg hunt, with a free Easter treat at the end, as well all the classic Wookey Hole attractions. It sounds like a “Hole” lot of fun!

Easter Adventures at Tyntesfield

Tyntesfield, a Grade I listed country house and estate, is always a beautiful place to visit – what child doesn’t love a stately home?

Joining in with the Easter fun, Tyntesfield are running a nature-inspired Easter adventure this year: follow the eggs to each of their ten activity stations, with plenty of fun and games to take part in at each one!

After completing the trail, kids will be able to collect a tasty Easter prize – and entry to the trail includes a pair of bunny ears to really get into the Easter spirit!

The Giant's Easter Hunt at Clifton Observatory

Bad news! The silly giants that hang out at Clifton Observatory have lost their eggs again! We’ll admit, we didn’t even know giants laid eggs…

The eggs are hidden throughout the Observatory, including the tower, Camera Obscura, and Giant’s Cave – so admission to the egg hunt also means admission to the full complement of Clifton Observatory attractions! Result!

Easter Sculpture Festival at University of Bristol Botanic Garden

The beautiful flowers and plants bursting into bloom and green shoots isn’t Springy enough for you? Well, firstly, that’s very demanding of you. Secondly, good news! Bristol Botanic Garden are hosting the Easter Sculpture Festival once more!

The festival celebrates the beauty of nature and the creativity of humans with a series of nature-themed sculptures, as well as interactive workshops and activities. Visitors can see a series of sculptures of stone, ceramics, wood, metal, and wire, all crafted by talented local artists.

Alongside the sculptures, visitors can jump into workshops of various artistic forms, from willow weaving to pottery. Refreshments will be provided by Chandos Deli.
