Noods Levels announce PROCESS – a brand new photography course

Posted on: 06 Mar 2024

This new eight-week photography programme will aim to shape the next generation of photographers from around the South West of England.

Putting out an open call to local photographers, Levels will incubate six artists at the embryonic stages of their careers through a programme where they will hone their craft and further sculpt their creative vision while working on a brief under the guidance of course mentor, Lucy Werrett.

Applications for the course are now open and close on Friday 29 March 2024, access the guidance document here and the application form, here.

Across two transformative months, Levels will nurture six diverse and passionate creatives, guiding the development of their unique creative identity, enhancing their industry expertise, and broadening their professional network.

The programme will see each chosen photographer crafting a compelling series of photographs capturing modern British culture, culminating in a city-wide poster campaign and an exhibition in the heart of Bristol with their work taking centre stage.

Course mentor Lucy Werrett is an experienced photographer and documentarian who has directed and shot for such illustrious clients as Resident Advisor, Clean & Clear, FLANNELS, UBER, dBs Music and Crack Magazine as well as having her films screened at festivals including Sheffield Doc Fest, Encounters and BFI Future Film Festival.

This project is run in partnership with the Martine Parr Foundation and supported by WeTransfer. Applicants to the scheme must be photographers aged 18 to 25, based in the South West and be available to attend eight two-hour in-person sessions at the end of project exhibition.

Noods Levels is an extension of the beloved Bristol radio station Noods, offering a platform for and empowering young people to develop their creative practice through collaboration. Bringing together young people from a diverse range of backgrounds to build peer-led networks and make artistic careers more accessible.

PROCESS applications are now open and close on Friday 29 March 2024, access the guidance document here and the application form, here.
