A giant version of The Elf on the Shelf Scout Elf is flying into Bristol this Christmas

The official annual The Elf on the Shelf countdown to Christmas begins with a massive edition of  The Elf on the Shelf Scout Elf arriving in Bristol next week, courtesy of Santa’s pals at Redcliffe & Temple BID.

 

From Friday 1 until Sunday 24 December, the enormous 15 ft Elf – wearing the iconic red suit and hat with white trim - will appear atop various Bristol buildings. The Elf on the Shelf will prove a wonderful early present to Bristolian children with a larger-than-life game of hide and seek.

Bristol families can expect daily clues as to the elf’s exact location shared through Redcliffe & Temple BID’s social media channels, you may even witness some classic festive fun as the Scout Elf unravels toilet rolls or eats some Christmas treats. Those lucky enough to glimpse the elf on the first day may even be able to grab a Love Bristol gift card!

 

Anyone familiar with this festive tradition will know that The Elf on the Shelf must quickly be named to activate their Christmas magic and with this in mind, Redcliffe & Temple BID are launching a city-wide call out to name the mischievous elf.

 

The Elf on the Shelf is the creation of Bristol-based prop and puppet maker Jenny Simmons with the 15 ft likeness taking two months to build in the artist’s Bedminster workshop. The Bristol Elf is a partnership between the BID, the puppet maker and The Lumistella Company’s official The Elf on the Shelf teams from both the US and UK.

 

Steve Bluff (head of Redcliffe & Temple BID) has said: “What better way to say Merry Christmas to Bristol than with a giant 15 ft elf - and we can’t wait to see what Bristol names our very own The Elf on the Shelf!

 

“It’s fantastic to support local talent on the national, and now international stage - and we can’t wait to delight workers, residents and visitors this festive season with a big old Christmas CRACKER - all while bringing festive fun to some of our city’s undiscovered areas.”
